Lalitpur Metropolitan was planning to construct a new building. In 2019, a competition was conducted with the help Asian Paints. The building would serve as an extension for the current building. This project involves the design and development of the building that is to be constructed.
Proposed building casting shadow on existing building, so a volume in the proposed building is subtracted. Two small volume was subtracted to form a courtyard in the middle of each section of proposed building. Facade of the building designed to reflect traditional architecture and compliment the existing building.
The design is based on the concept of courtyard.i.e. To create a space open to the sky and surround by an enclosure. The proposal of the courtyard is to form a central space for the public to come and connect with each other.

Courtyard also known as Bahal, is an important feature of traditional Newari architecture.
The two courtyards together serves to provide efficient air circulation throughout the building ultimately decreasing the need of additional cooling system and provides opening for natural light to spread throughout the building eliminating the need of artificial light even in daytime.
